| I avoided back surgery |

"I am a neurosurgery Physician Assistant and have had chronic low back and leg pain for the past two years. Anxious to avoid a lumbar fusion if possible, I decided to try the Alivio IF4.
I am a 40 year old mother of two, and have been an athlete all my life. During my second pregnancy I developed low back pain, which turned out to be a herniated disk. One year later I finally succumbed to having surgery to fix the disk, which was initially successful, however the pain returned abut 2 years later. Over the past 2 years I have had continual low back pain, and occasional leg pain. I have tried physical therapy, yoga and pilates classes, and core strengthening programs which seem to help, but I continued to be plagued with persistent low back pain. The pain has limited the amount of physical activity I have been able to do over the past 2 years. In December, 2006, I came across the Alivio IF4 and decided to give it a try. I am the Physician Assistant for a Neurosurgeon and stand on my feet in the operating room for many hours at a time. I was pleasantly surprised after realizing that my pain was reduced by more than half when using the Alivio IF4 on and off throughout the day. I have reduced the amount of anti-inflammatory medication almost immediately after routine use of the stimulator. I now have so much less pain after finishing my work day that I have enough energy to go to the gym or to take my kids for a bike ride or a swim. The pain does not limit me nearly as much as it did before I started using the Alivio IF4 stimulator. My L5-S1 disk is dehydrated and collapsed, and I will always have some degree of chronic pain, but, for now, I can resume most of the normal activities my family and I enjoy on a more regular basis. I am grateful to Alivio Corporation for providing me with a better alternative to pain control than undergoing a lumbar fusion at such a young age. I am also pleased to be able to offer this type of pain control to my patients who want to try and avoid surgery." S.D. Physician's Assistant, Neurosurgery Chronic Back Pain |
